Smart Tech Security Ltd was approached by Derby Hill
Dairy Farm in Weeton to upgrade their existing CCTV system. The farm’s
existing analogue setup was outdated, had several non-functional
cameras, and offered poor image quality. It was not fit for purpose,
especially for a business looking to enhance site security and remote
monitoring capabilities.

Initial Installation
In 2017, we replaced the entire system with a new IP-based CCTV setup.

This included:
– Installation of 2MP HD IP cameras for clear, high-resolution images
– Complete rewiring with new cabling for reliability and performance
– No existing internet infrastructure on-site, which was crucial for
remote monitoring

To address this, we deployed a Ubiquiti point-to-point link to beam
internet access from the owner’s home further up the field to the
on-site office. This not only enabled remote CCTV viewing but also gave
office staff reliable internet access for their day-to-day operations.

Business Growth and System Expansion
As both Smart Tech Security Ltd and Derby Hill Dairy Farm grew over the
years, the farm invested in a new, purpose-built office on-site. With
the new building and updated site layout, further security enhancements
were needed.

We continued to support their development by:
– Installing a new generation of Hikvision AcuSense 5MP HD cameras,
offering superior image quality
– Adding 8MP fisheye cameras to provide a 360-degree view of internal
spaces
– Setting up smart notifications and active deterrents, including strobe
lighting and siren functionality in sensitive areas

The cameras were configured to monitor key zones for any unauthorised
access, helping to deter potential intruders effectively.

Connectivity Upgrade
As part of the office construction project, we completed a first-fix
during the build phase, laying the groundwork for all CCTV
infrastructure. Once the building was ready for second-fix, we completed
the installation and migrated the existing point-to-point internet link
to the new office. This ensured high-speed internet connectivity for the
entire staff, supporting both CCTV operations and general business use.
